What is the Election Procedure of the Business Referral Club?

During the first meeting in November, the president will announce the election and name an elections officer (who is not seeking a position on the board). The elections officer will describe the responsibilities of the various board positions and outline the election procedure. During the following four consecutive weeks, nominations will be accepted for the board positions. At the first meeting in December, all members who are in attendance will vote on board candidates who will take office at the first meeting in January.

At least 50% of the active members must be present for a vote. A plurality of voting members will decide the results.  In the event of a tie, the candidate with seniority will be considered the winner. If a member knows that he or she will be unable to attend the elections, he or she may cast an absentee ballot with the elections officer prior to the election.
